Frances Waters Dateline: Lovilia Frances Waters, age 94, of Lovilia, died on April 22, 2013 at Monroe County Hospital. Frances was born July 25, 1918 to Frank and Maggie (Wilson) Barnes in Lovilia. She married Harold Waters on October 2, 1934 in Moravia, Iowa. They shared sixty years of marriage during which most of the time they owned and operated Waters Grocery in Lovilia. From this union, they raised six children, Iola, Carol, Phyllis, Gene, Mark and John. Harold preceded her in death on November 16, 1994. Frances was a very classy lady who loved her family and was devoted to her church. She enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who cherished the time she spent with her family. She was a life long resident of Lovilia and a long time member of the Lovilia United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. Frances was a homemaker with a beautiful voice. Her love of music led to her being a member of the Sweet Adelines, and singing for her church. She and her brother Bill sang together at many area funerals. Frances is survived by two daughters, Carol (DeWayne) Allison and Phyllis (Tom) Dunkin both of Lovilia, two sons, Gene (Marge) Waters of Muscatine, and Mark (Joyce) Waters of Des Moines, daughter-in-law, Sharon Waters of Lovilia, thirteen grandchildren, Diane Edgington, Scott Allison, Bruce (Kellie) Allison, Tina (Randy) Beary, Lisa Shelford, Tom (Petra) Dunkin, Greg (Pam) Waters, Julie (Steve) Prunchak, Tim (Michelle) Waters, Todd Waters, Toni (Gary) Morris, Sarah Waters and Sandy Waters, twenty-eight great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, sister, Renie (Max) Bowman of Ottumwa, sister in law, Norma Barnes of Lovilia, and numerous nieces and nephews. Frances is preceded in death by her husband Harold, two infant sons, Kenneth and Keith, daughter Iola Gladfelder, son, John, grandson, Dale Allison, two infant granddaughters, one infant grandson, parents, Frank and Maggie Barnes, brother, Bill Barnes and sister Beatrice Dorr. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Lovilia United Methodist Church with Rev Randy Beary officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia. Visitation will be on Wednesday, opening to the public at 2:00 pm at the Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lovilia. Frances' family will be present from 6-8 pm at the funeral home Wednesday evening. Online condolences may be left at sinnottfuneralhome.com.
