Janice Bernice Field

Janice B. Field was born February 13, 1922 in Barnes, North Dakota. She lived on the farm. As a young girl, she enjoyed playing the piano. In high school, Janice enjoyed playing basketball. She attended college in Valley City, North Dakota. She met and later married Hugo H. Field on June 19, 1941 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. They moved to Joplin, Missouri and then to St. Paul, Hinckley, and finally to Ham Lake in 1948. In Ham Lake, Hugo and Janice farmed, owned a sod business and Hugo worked for the government. Janice was a 4-H Leader, sang and played the piano at Glen Cary Lutheran Church. She worked at the Lino Lakes Correctional Facility for four years; then landing a job at Unity Hospital in Fridley in the administration office. After working at Unity Hospital for 25 years, Janice retired. Her hobbies included, reading, watching TV, listening to music, and feeding the birds. She loved having her pet cats and dogs near her. A highlight for Janice was being able to attend her 50th class reunion with her daughter-in-law, Judy in 1989. Janice enjoyed eating out with family and friends. , 2013 at the age of 91 years. She is preceded in death by husband, Hugo in 1980; her brother, Dwight and her sister, Adeline. Janice will be deeply missed by her sons, Herman (Judy) Ellefson and Terry (Joan) Field; five grandchildren, Todd (Carolyn), Tracy, Elvis, Candace, and Jason; nine great grandchildren; half-brother, Russell (Emily) Shroeder; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 30th at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Dr. SW, Forest Lake with a visitation beginning at 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
