Russell Amos Krominga was born April 20, 1930, in Burt, Iowa, the son of Amos and Pearl (Heifner) Krominga. He grew up near Titonka where he also attended school. After his schooling he began working at the locker in Titonka.
On June 11, 1947, Russell was united in marriage to Lola Hammond at the United Methodist Parsonage in Titonka. Russell continued working at the Titonka Locker and later became the owner and continued operating it until his retirement in 1983.
Russell enjoyed hunting, camping, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, collecting antique cars and in his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating and going to movies. He was a past member of the Titonka volunteer Fire Department and a current member of the United Methodist Church.
Russell died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Titonka Care Center in Titonka, Iowa. He was 83.
He is survived by his sons, Harlan "Buzz" and Lelah Krominga of Rockford, Illinois; Randy Krominga and special friend Wanda of Mason City; Kim Krominga of Mason City; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Gene Krominga of Titonka; Betty Bosma of Buffalo Center; Donna Dunnavan of Rockford, Illinois; Roger and Mary Kromin...[more]
of Sun City West, Arizona and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lola on April 18, 2010; three infant great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Abbas and brother, Paul Krominga.
