RAYMOND F. MELGER Mr. Ray Melger, of Bridge Road in Cedarburg, previously of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday morning, May 2, 2013, at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg. He was 91 years old. Raymond was born in the Town of Schleswig on December 1, 1921, son of Frank and Christina Schoenung Melger. Following his schooling, he proudly served in the US Army with the Military Police. Ray was united in marriage with Mildred Rohde at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls on September 25, 1948. The couple settled in Sheboygan and started their family. Mr. Melger worked for Kohler Company before they moved to Cedarburg in 1956. He then worked for the City of Cedarburg Public Works Department for 13 years, and later became a lead person at Pioneer Container, retiring in 1984. Ray was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg as well as a member of the American Legion Post 288. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of Cedarburg, and their three daughters: Nancy (David) Boivin of Jackson, Gail (Keith) Goetter of Cedarburg and Cindy (William) Hilgendorf of Hubertus. Brian (Nicole) Goetter, Matthew (special friend Leslie) Hilgendorf and Angela (Andrew) Steffen, 8 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Jordyn, Zakary, Kayleigh, Brady, Abby, Jacob and Natalie, Sister-in-law Zerlina Melger, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 4th at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North (1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg), Father Thomas Eichenberger will officiate. Interment will follow at Zur Ruhe Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 10 AM until 12 noon. The family wishes to thank the staff of Lasata Care Center for the wonderful care they have given Ray over the last three years.
