David Eugene Willemsen, age 47 of Monroe, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at his home. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. also at the church. Memorials may be directed to the David E. Willemsen Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com. The son of John Elmer and Betty Lou (Taylor) Willemsen, David was born on September 1, 1965 in Newton, Iowa. David graduated from Monroe High School in 1984. David was a factory worker and crane operator at Trinity Structural Towers in Newton. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 0349 and lived in Monroe his entire life. Those left to honor his memory include his children, Brooke Bissell and her husband Branden of Des Moines and Jacob David Willemsen of Mitchellville; a grand daughter, Brynlenn; his parents, John Elmer and Betty Lou Willemsen of Monroe; and two brothers, Jeff Willemsen and his wife Teri and Greg Willemsen and his wife Dawn both of Monroe.
