pent three years at Randolph Field before returning to the family farm in the Summit neighborhood south of Shenandoah in 1945. To this union two children were born: Sherry Janelle and Harold "Mack" Mackoy. Marguerite guided her children through 4-H and Cub Scouts, leading youth in both programs with the same enthusiasm. True to her passion for education, she graduated from Peru State College in 1971 and returned to teaching in the Farragut community schools. As a teacher, Marguerite enjoyed challenging her students and made learning a priority. She took ordinary items and transformed them into teaching tools. She explored history in an authentic way. She inspired her students to find their own voices and express themselves creatively. Marguerite and Wendell moved to Shenandoah in 1978, both still engaged in the family farm operation with Marguerite teaching school. Upon retirement, they enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and attending activities of their grandchildren in Shenandoah and Guthrie Center. Marguerite proudly celebrated 50-year memberships in the Order of the Eastern Star and Summit United Methodist Church, Ladies of B.P.E.O and was a current member of Shenandoah Methodist Church The role that she enjoyed the most was that of mother, grandmother and great grandmother, whether hosting or attending annual holiday gatherings, graduations, weddings and birthdays. She also enjoyed planning vacations with her family. Her collection of cookbooks and endless search for recipes delighted family and friends. In retirement she belonged to many bridge groups. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Josephine Beryl Mackoy Evans and Virginia Mackoy Trautman, brother in-law Clarence Snyder and husband Wendell Teachout. She is survived by her sister Elaine Mackoy Snyder; adult children Sherry Teachout Glenn of Urbandale, Mack Teachout (Carolyn Gilbert) of Farragut; grandchildren Jeremy (Jennifer) Glenn of Chicago and Erin (Greg) Feldmann of Iowa City and Brandon Teachout and friend Miranda Huseth of Washington D.C.; and great grandchildren Allison, Lydia and Annabelle Glenn and Jacob, Nathan, and Lauren Feldmann. The family is very appreciative for the acts of kindness of all who were touched by the life of Marguerite. The family would especially like to recognize the women and men of Elm Heights Care Center and the Hospice Organizations for all of their care and support.
