Elaine Susanna (Martin) Dinville was born on February 26, 1926 in Oakdale, Nebraska, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Rameaker) Martin. Elaine was the third of eight children and the eldest daughter. Elaine entered into eternal peace on May 15, 2013 at the Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. Elaine attended STAR Country School for 8 years (walking 2 miles each way to school) and graduated from Albion High School with the Class of 1943. Upon graduation she moved with her family to a farm near Imogene, Iowa. Elaine worked in Shenandoah for McClelland's Five and Dime for a number of years before starting her banking career at the City National Bank in 1956 until her retirement in 1992. In July of 1966 Elaine was united in marriage to Thomas A. "Tony" Dinville. The couple made their home in Shenandoah. Elaine was an active member of the community. She was involved in the Shenandoah Hospital Auxiliary, Christian Women, St. Mary's Guild, Business and Professional Women, the American Legion Auxiliary and was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. ne was famous for her scotcharoos and her warm smile. Although Elaine had no children, she loved being around a house full of little ones and enjoyed her role as "surrogate grandma" to Kerri, Zachary, Courtney and John McGargill. In these last several months every child she saw, she thought was her baby sister Mary Ann. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Vincent, Edward and Marvin. Those left to cherish her memory include her siblings; Ronald Martin and wife Barbara of Green Valley, AZ, Norbert Martin and wife Katy of Shenandoah, IA, Monica Regan of Imogene, IA and Mary Ann Collins of Minneapolis, MN. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
