Ruth Sabina Scheideman

Ruth Sabina Scheideman, 98, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Tompkins Memorial Health Center. A service honoring Ruth's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, at the Celebration Center of Friendship Haven with the Rev. Anita Johnson and Pastor Lyle Hansen officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until service time. Memorials can be given to Friendship Haven, Alzheimer's Care Unit. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Ruth is survived by her children, Dale Scheideman, Little Rock, Ark.; Joyce (Jim) Koester, New Braunfels, Tex.; Sandy (Jim) Wolfington, New Braunfels, Tex.; five grandsons and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arno Scheideman, and sons, Rex and Kent. Ruth Sabina Strauss, the daughter of F.W.Otto and Marie (Burk) Strauss, was born July 14, 1914 in Waterloo, Iowa. Fort Dodge. Arno and Ruth owned Scheideman Sand and Gravel Company where Ruth was the bookkeeper. They made their home on a farm northwest of Fort Dodge with their family. Upon Arno's death, Ruth lived in Fort Dodge. For the past 15 years Ruth has lived at Friendship Haven. Ruth was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the Fort Dodge Association for Retarded Children. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and volunteer activities. Ruth especially treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren.
