Betty Lou George, age 70 of Prairie City, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ with burial following at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to JDRF or the Rodney and Alena Ingle Adoption Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com. The daughter of Homer Albert and Edith Luella (West) Haner, Betty was born on April 8, 1943, in Corydon, Iowa. Betty graduated from Wayne Community High School. On September 7, 1962, she was united in marriage to Larry George in Unionville, Missouri. Betty was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening but her favorite thing to do was spending time with her grand children. Also surviving are two brothers, Norris Haner of Russell, Iowa and Gene (Linda) Haner of Afton, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Grace Haner of Jefferson City, Missouri. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and a brother, Neal Haner.
