Jean A. Renner, 78, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Friday morning, May 24, 2013, at her home in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at 10 A.M., Wednesday, May 29, 2013, from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, where a 6:45 P.M. Scripture service will be held. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Jean Anne Schiffer was born on May 4, 1935 in Galena, Illinois, to Henry William and Anna Marie (Goldhagen) Schiffer. She grew up in Galena and attended St. Michael's Catholic Elementary School. She graduated from Galena High School in 1953. She married Norman K. "Norm" Renner on April 2, 1955 in Savanna, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2002. Jean had worked at Sacred Heart School in the kitchen and for Russell Bros. Grocery Store in Maquoketa for a short time. Her main vocation outside of raising a family was working at the Maquoketa Middle School as a Teacher's Associate for over 29 years, retiring in 2001.
