Amanda L. Bruns Gonner, 24, of Baldwin, Iowa, died on Friday evening, June 7, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, from injuries received in an automobile accident near Welton, Iowa. Friends and family may gather for "One Last Tailgate"® in remembrance of Amanda on Friday, June 14, 2013, from 1 to 4 P.M. in "The Bistro" at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. A reception will follow at the Monmouth Community Center. A private burial will be held at a later date from the Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. Amanda Lynn Bruns was born on December 19, 1988 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Mark and Dixie (Carr) Bruns. She grew up in Baldwin and was a 2007 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School. She was scheduled to graduate from Kirkwood Community College in December with an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration. She married Nick Gonner on August 8, 2008 in Monmouth, Iowa. Care in DeWitt, Iowa. Amanda was actively involved in her support of the Relay for Life each year. She liked being a redneck and enjoyed fishing, camping, hanging with friends, bonfires, country music and shopping with her nieces. She especially loved doing anything with her son "A.J.". Those left to honor Amanda's memory include her son, Andrew Joseph Henry "A.J." Gonner; her parents, Dixie Bruns of Monmouth, IA, and Mark Bruns of Baldwin, IA; a brother, Lonnie (Renee) Carr of Baldwin, IA; and 2 nieces, Ciera and Lexus. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, an Amanda L. Bruns Gonner memorial fund has been established.
