Harold W. Reed

Mr. Harold W. Reed, 77, of New London died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home. Mr. Reed was born at home on Beaverdale Road on May 8, 1936, the son of Carl Raymond and Ethel Florance Sutherland Reed. He was the third generation on the family farm. On March 19, 1961 he married Katherine Helen Schoch at the Peace Lutheran Church in Prairie Grove. Mr. Reed was a farmer and also worked at General Electric for more than 35 years in the steel fabrication, aluminum welding assembly and cage area. He retired in 2002. He graduated from Danville High School in 1955 and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He was a 4-H leader for 5 years. He enjoyed family BBQ's, watching Westerns, eating home cooked sweets, and Johnny Cash and June Carter. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife; three daughters, Debora Jean (Bryce) Van Maanen of Lynnville, Iowa, Diane Kay (Gary) Roller of Morning Sun, and Darla Mae (Jack) West of Ainsworth; one son, Bradley Raymond Reed of Morning Sun; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
