Mr. Terry Lee Staats, 49, of Mount Pleasant, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Great River Medical Center. Born May 25, 1964 in Burlington he was the son of William Staats Sr. and Bonnie Schwartz Schnedler On June 5, 1999 he married Toni Rosson in Kingston. Mr. Staats was a 1982 graduate of Mediapolis High School. He was a heavy equipment operator most recently for Zaiser Fabrication in West Burlington. He was the life of the party, a jokester and a loving and caring person. He cherished his family and was a doting husband and father. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting - especially deer hunting, fishing and trapping turtles. Survivors include his wife, Toni Staats of Mount Pleasant; three sons, Jacob Ryan (Amanda) Staats of Burlington, Kyle David (Jen) Mitchell of Washington and Trevor Drake Staats of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Kaylan Lee Mitchell of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Kaydyn Dean Graham of Mount Pleasant, Jessup Staats of Burlington and Haleigh Staats of Burlington; his father and step mother, William "Bill" (Jean) Staats of Burlington; mother and step father, Bonnie (Henry) Schnedler of Burlington; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Kath...[more]

atts of Burlington; four brothers, William Staats Jr. of Oakville, Randy (Carol) Thompkin of Grandview; Lonnie (Suzanne) Staats of Mount Pleasant and Barry (Julie) Staats of Sperry; three sisters, Deb (Lonnie) Scheitlin of Burlington, Pam (William) Jones of Wadley, Alabama and Brenda (Rob Schadt) Staats of Salem; two step brothers, Kenneth (Shelley) Agnew of Mediapolis and Josh (Megan) Agnew of New London; one step sister, Kim (Jeff) Nehring of New London; 25 nieces and nephews and 25 great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Staats will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 14th, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Dan Baker officiating. A memorial has been established. According to Mr. Staats wishes, cremation will be accorded following the funeral service.
