Clark W. "Dod" Giles Jr. JOY, Illinois -- Clark W. "Dod" Giles Jr., 77, of Joy, went to eternal peace at his home on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Masonic Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, followed by a brief Celebration of Life Service at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Private burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 3 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge No. 679 or the AMT Ambulance Service. Clark was born on March 8, 1936, in New Boston Township, the fourth child of Clark and Ablonda Jackson Giles. He graduated from New Boston High School and married Marlene Hays on April 20, 1958, in the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church. "Dod" farmed the Hays family farm all of his life, retiring in 2005. He loved to dance and play cards, especially solitaire, and he enjoyed fishing, camping, John Wayne classics, reading the comics and spending time with his family and friends. Shriners and Order of the Eastern Star, where he served as past worthy patron. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Giles; three sons, Rodney Giles of Galena, Illinois, Dean Giles of Chandler, Arizona, and Shannon Giles of Peoria, Arizona; special friends, Allison Giles, and her sons, Zach and Aaron, all of Avondale, Arizona, and Beth Ernster of East Dubuque, Illinois; three sisters, Lois Schultz and husband, Duane, of Rock Island, Bonnie Louck of New Boston, Judy McCreight and husband, Roger, of Aledo; three brothers, James Giles and wife, Luella, of New Boston, Casey Giles of Rock Island, and Tony Giles and wife, Connie, of Muscatine; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Wayne Louck; and a special friend, Bob Dedoncker.
