Daniel J. Nielsen "Red" Mr. Daniel Nielsen, of First Avenue in Grafton, passed away unexpectedly in Rhinelander Saturday, June 15, 2013, where he was visiting with friends. He was 51 years old. Daniel was born in Fort Atkinson on February 17, 1962, son of Raymond and Marcella Romens Nielsen. "Red" grew up in Palmyra until the family moved to Milwaukee in 1967 and later to Cedarburg in 1969. He attended local schools and graduated from Cedarburg High School with the Class of 1980. Red started working at Circle B Recreation Center in Grafton while he was in high school, and worked his way up to manager. He spent much of his free time there when he wasn't working, just because he enjoyed the people so much. Red liked bowling, golfing, playing horseshoes and hunting with his son. He had a passion for cooking, and frequently used his own recipes at Circle B. He is survived by his son, Justin, of Brillion, parents Raymond and Marcella Nielsen of Cedarburg, four brothers and sisters: Terry (Neil) Dishman of Talala, OK, Dennis (Debbie) Nielsen of Grafton, Mary (David) Golab of Brookfield and Don (Kris) Nielsen of Marshfield. , nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 PM on Thursday, June 20, at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Cedarburg (1167 Washington Ave.). Father Tom Eichenberger will preside. He will be laid to rest at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery the following day. The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 5-8PM at the Funeral Home with a reception to follow at Circle B. Memorials are suggested to the family.
