Donald Gayle 'Don' Hollingsworth IOWA CITY, Iowa--Donald Gayle 'Don' Hollingsworth, 61, of Wapello, died Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Rev. Pam Kranzler will be officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Swimming Pool. Don was born on March 13, 1952, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Gayle Courtney and Carol Ellen Rawhouser Hollingsworth. He married Debbie Ann Marshall on September 10, 1972, in Wapello. Don graduated from Wapello High School in 1970 and received a welding degree from Southeastern Community College. He worked a couple years for Gast Welding in Wapello and then worked at Monsanto in Muscatine for 37 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wapello and very active in Ducks Unlimited for many years. He had been a little league coach and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Hollingsworth of Wapello; three children, Lynn and Darin Smith of Wapello, Leslie and Lindsay Hollingsworth of Platteville, Wisconsin, and Laura and BJ Bailey of Mediapolis; 10 grandchildren, Andy, Abby, and Adam Kerr, Ryan, Emma, and Katy Smith, William and Eva Hollingsworth, and Camryn and Avery Bailey; his mother, Carol Sheckler of Mt. Union; two sisters, Connie Sue and Robert Maxwell of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Joyce Marie Hollingsworth of Mt. Union; and his special black lab, Tess. He was preceded in death by his father, Gayle and his step-father, Floyd Sheckler.
