Alvia Lee Brown, age 86, of Fremont, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2013, at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. He was born on July 27, 1926 in Lovilia to William and Viola (Robbins) Brown.
Lee was enlisted with the United States Navy during WWII. He married Irene Marie Sytsma on June 9, 1946 in Albia, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Ron, Jim, and Steve. Irene died on December 28, 2010. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and especially spending time with his family.
Lee is survived by his children: Ron (Pat) Brown of Knoxville, Jim (Sharon) Brown of Ottumwa, and Steve (Dorinda) Brown of Omaha, NE, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, siblings, Norma (Tony) Whitlatch of Oskaloosa, Barbara McClun of Newton, Danny (Elaine) Brown of Oskaloosa, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene, and siblings, Don, Larry, Bill Brown, and Dorothy McCombs
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Visitation with the family present will also be on ...[more]
