Charles W. Lewis DAVENPORT, Iowa--Charles Walter Lewis, 84, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Genesis East Hospital in Davenport. Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Pastor Mike Bales will officiate. Burial will take place Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery with full military rites by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post 27. Following the committal there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Moose Lodge #388, 207 Lake Park Blvd, Muscatine. Visitation will be held from 1 until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the funeral home.A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Lewis' name. Charles was born on November 27, 1928, in Muscatine, the son of Wilbur and Alma Hindbaugh Lewis. On January 24, 1953, Charles was united in marriage to Odetta Zaehringer in Muscatine. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Korean War. He had worked for GPC for over 30 years as a Maintenance Supervisor. a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed watching TV, going to the shooting range, going to the casinos and especially attending his grandchildren's activities and events. Charles will be deeply missed by his wife, Odetta Lewis of Muscatine; his three children, Gloria Lewis, Charles Lewis and wife, Kathy, and Craig Lewis, all of Muscatine; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Lewis and wife, Bonnie, Delmar Lewis and wife, Theda, and John Lewis and wife, Tammy, all of Muscatine; one sister, Delores Curtis and husband, James, of Muscatine; and many other special family members.. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alfred, Roy and Russell; sister, Viola Martin; and daughter-in-law, Lori Lewis.
