Larry Alan Barker was born on August 11, 1960, in Windom, Minnesota to William H. and Elta (Menken) Barker. Larry attended Storden-Jeffers Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1978. He was confirmed and a member of the United Methodist Church in Jeffers.
Through the years, Larry worked for various carpenters in the area. He enjoyed pool league, his cap collection, pictching horse shoes, was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan, enjoyed conversing with friends and relatives and will be remembered for having a "winning smile".
On Thursday evening, July 18, 2013, Larry became suddenly ill and was taken to the St. James Hospital in St. James, Minnesota where he passed away at the age of 52 years.
Larry is survived by his mother, Elta Barker of Westbrook; brothers and sisters, Robert Barker and his wife, Julie of Jeffers; David Barker and his wife, Joan, of Rock Springs, WY; Diana Dusek of Havre, MT; Maureen Palm and her husband, Marlin, of Mt. Lake; JoAnn Flaherty and her husband, Pat, of Butterfield; Charles Sweeney and his wife, Lynn, of Sleepy Eye; Gordon Sweeney of Jeffers; Mary Jo Umscheid and her husband, Jim, of Spencer, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
