Grace Viola Crawford, 98, of Ackley, Iowa, formerly of Dumont, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison in Allison, Iowa. She was born on January 5, 1915, in Dumont, Iowa, to George and Affie (Burma) Claassen. Grace graduated from Dumont High School in 1932. She was married to Helmer Ploeger on June 21, 1941; he preceded her in death. Grace then married Dean Crawford on October 24, 1990; he also preceded her in death. She was a farm wife and worked for several nursing homes. Grace was a member of the Dumont Reformed Church in Dumont, where she was a part of the Ladies Aide Society. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, making rugs, embroidery, bingo, card games and spending time with her family. Grace was a self-taught piano and organ player and would play with her husband Dean as he played his guitar. Her biggest love in life was her dog Muffy. Grace is survived by her daughter Jeannne Hugh of Gilmore City, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, four brothers, one sister, three nieces and two nephews.
