Janese L. Davis

Mrs. Janese L. Davis, 77, of Burlington died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by her family. Born July 23, 1936 in Kahoka, Missouri, she was the youngest daughter of Ralph and Edna (Saar) Shankster. On August 4, 1957 she married her high school sweetheart, Gene Edward Davis in a double wedding with her twin sister, Janet and Keith Nixon in Kahoka. Mrs. Davis was a 1954 graduate of Kahoka High School and graduated from Burlington Beauty Academy in 1956. She used her skills as a cosmetologist to enrich the lives of her clients for 56 years, working at The Looking Glass and ultimately retiring from The Curly Inn. Mrs. Davis attended Zion United Church of Christ. She was a member of O.E S. in Kahoka, Jr. Women's Club, P.E.O. and Burlington Golf Club. She served as a past talent chairman of the Burlington Follies. She enjoyed playing cards, including Bridge and being with her grandchildren.
