Leonard "Lindy" Cook, age 93, of Spirit Lake, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was born on June 15, 1920, in Terril, Iowa, to Julius and Maggie (Maas) Cook. Lindy graduated from Terril High School in 1938, and served his country in the United States Army Air Corp from March of 1941, until September of 1945. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Yager on August 31, 1947, in Lake Park. He owned and operated Lindy's Photo Lab in Lake Park, worked for Cook's Hatchery and worked for Pure Fishing for 43 years, before he retired in 1999. Lindy was a member of the American Legion and the United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed spending his spare time fishing, gardening, watching birds and photography. Lindy is survived by his wife, Phyllis Cook of Spirit Lake; his children, Kristi Stahl (Dan) of Davenport, Jan Bailey (Paul) of Denver, Colorado, Jon Cook (Bonnie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kerri Wood (Dan) of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Jodi Hyser (Robert) of Waconia, Minnesota, and Kim Looman (Tim) of Holland, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Clay, Aaron, Kara, Matt, Lindsey, Brandon,...[more]

evor, Wesley and Jennifer; and five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Lauren, David, Ridgely and Jessica Lin. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; three brothers; and a son-in-law, David Bedell. A private family funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at the Schuchert Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Terril. The Schuchert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
