Roman J. Schommer Mr. Roman Schommer, of Fredonia, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 4, 2013 at Aurora Medical Center, Grafton. He was 81 years. Roman was born November 3, 1931 in Holy Cross, the son of Raymond and Loretta Watry Schommer. From 1952-1953, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. On November 10, 1951 he was united in marriage with Carol Walter at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Milwaukee. For many years he worked as a press mechanic at American Can Company in Milwaukee. Mr. Schommer was a member of Divine Savior Parish, St. Rose Chapel in Fredonia where he sang with the church choir, as well as the American Legion, Warren Kane Post #410. He joined the Fredonia Fire Department on January 11, 1966, and served as an active member for 35 years, before becoming an honorary member. He enjoyed staying at his trailer up north in Mountain and snowmobiling. Roman is survived by his wife Carol of Fredonia and their children: Dennis (Pam) of Port Washington, Cindy (Mike) Glander of Fredonia, Daniel "Fuzzy" (Maureen) of Fredonia and Lynn (Brad) DeMaster of Cedar Grove. as further survived by his brothers and sisters: Daniel (Darlene) Schommer and Ronald (Mary), both of Fredonia, Jean Klas of Fredonia and Rita (George) Kirst of Kewaskum, sister-in-law Myrtle Phillips of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7PM on Wednesday, August 7 at Divine Savior Parish, St. Rose Chapel, 305 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia. He will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave, Belgium on Wednesday from 3-6:30PM, leaving in procession for St. Rose Chapel at 6:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Fredonia Fire Department or the Fredonia American Legion, Post #410. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium is honored to be serving the family.
