each of them in a unique way. He knew he could play with them, sleep on their beds, rely on them for extra treats and a good ear rub when needed. And in him they each had a loyal companion who was ever-ready to sit beside them, watch them play video games, go for a walk, whatever struck their fancy as long as it was near him. He lived most of his life with both of his parents, Sir Burnie (our first Scottie) was with us until 2007 and his mom, sweet Missy was a rescue who lived the first 2 years of her life in a puppy mill and the rest of her life as our resident brassy broad, was with us until 2009. He was the lone dog for a family of 5 and he never seemed to mind the extra attention that afforded him. We got a pair of Scottie babies from a rescue last year and he was the gentlest mentor to those twins. And wow did they ever love that old man!! Our little girl would lie down directly in front of him so that when he was cleaning his feet, he would also be stroking her indirectly with his muzzle. It was the sweetest gesture of submission and love and Padgett never seemed to be annoyed by her goofy baby love. Our little boy would follow Padgett everywhere, just waiting to see what the next adventure was going to be. When Padgett would notice him, the baby´s tail would go about 100mph whipping out beats of his devotion to that old dog. It was adorable. When we knew the end was near for Padgett, we moved him onto his bed and those babies laid nearby throughout the night, never moving from his side. My sweet boy fought hard to remain with the family that had loved him for 14 years, but in the end the pain and the allure of new life across the Rainbow Bridge proved too much for him. He went into forever in the early morning hours of 15 July 2012 and part of my heart went with him. We are forever changed by this quiet, sweet little dog and I will miss him until the day that the allure of new life is too much for me and I join him and my other beloved family. Thank you, sweet baby, Misser Padgett for 14 years of devoted love and faithful companionship. We could not have dreamed up a better guy than you.
