Troy Alan Fenton
Troy Alan Fenton, 38, of Burlington, died September 20, 2013 in his home, surrounded by family. Born on October 8, 1974 in Burlington he was the son of John Fenton and Linda Sue Ashby. He was a 1993 graduate of Burlington High School and attended Southeastern Community College. Troy was baptized in the Church of the Open Bible and always cherished his teacher and mentor Larry Farrel. On April 16, 2005 he married Janet Trautner in Burlington. Troy owned and operated T.F. Mixed Martial Arts and was a personal trainer with Sports Worx. Troy was a 6th degree black belt. He was a well-known teacher of the martial arts with many of the area youth and had recently begun working with people with disabilities and assisting with rehabilitation. His passion was working with his kids and encouraging all to succeed. He loved hunting, loved to be out in the woods and was always eager for deer season to begin. He loved to fish and watching Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeye football. He was an amazing dad who always put his children first. f Burlington; two daughters, Tammy Fenton and her fiancé Chris Tapscott and Brittany Vahle both of Burlington; two sons, Matt Fenton and Tyler Vahle of Burlington; his three fur babies, Kedo, Gypsie and Bear; his father; John Fenton and his companion Rose Crane of Centerville; his mother; Sue Smith and her husband Robert of Mediapolis; two brothers, Dean Fenton and his wife Michelle and Jon Fenton all of Burlington; one sister, Lori Thie and her husband Mike of Burlington; two half-brothers; Chad Fenton and Andy Fenton of Centerville and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Tammy Fenton and his maternal and paternal grandparents. A memorial has been established in Troy's memory. According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded.
