Jerry Stellinga

Gerald "Jerry" Stellinga, age 71, of Spirit Lake, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. He was born on June 5, 1942, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, to Allen "Red" and Ellen Harmsen Stellinga. Jerry graduated from Rock Rapids High School in 1961. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Moser on June 21, 1963, in Inwood, Iowa. Jerry worked for Hy-Vee in the Meat Department at several Northwest Iowa stores, spending most of his years in Spirit Lake. After his retirement Jerry enjoyed taking motorcycle rides, spending time with his family, mowing lawns and the many adventures he had driving the limo. He always enjoyed making new friends! Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosemary Stellinga of Spirit Lake; two daughters, Deb (John) Joseph of Waukee, and Sandi Stellinga (Mike Moses) of Spirit Lake; two sisters, Betty (Bruce) Kelley of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Beverly (Tim) Starr of Tea, South Dakota; three brothers, Marlin (Marlys) Stellinga of Sheldon, Bob (Linda) Stellinga of Sheldon, and Ken Stellinga of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three grandchildren, Tucker Stellinga, James Joseph and Ryan Joseph; and his close friends, Roll...[more]

(Margy) Engbarth. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M. Monday, September 30, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 3:00P.M. until 5:00P.M. at the Schuchert Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Jerry's name. The Schuchert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
