He is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Virginia, and their three children: Bruce (Jacqueline) Schmidt of San Diego, CA, Jan (Chuck) Hammel and Terri Schmidt, both of Port Washington. He is further survived by three granddaughters: Nina (fiancée Gavin McCorkle) Schmidt, Kendall "Roxy" and Stephanie Schmidt, all of San Diego, CA, sister Lorraine "Nicki" (George) Steinle of Baltimore, MD, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his son Rick, his parents and his sister Hildegarde "Jackie" Raniewicz. A Memorial Service will be held at 6PM on Thursday at the Eernisse Funeral Home (1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington), followed by Military Honors. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:30PM until 6PM.
