ED LONGSTRETH MUSCATINE, Iowa - Edwin I. 'Ed' Longstreth, 69, of Muscatine, died on Monday, October 7, 2013, at his home. A Celebration of Ed's Life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013, at the Muscatine Moose Lodge from 6 to 11 p.m. Honorary bearers will be his family, Lance Longstreth, Said El Bahi, Dakota Crose, Michael Crose, Lisa Loring, and Taylor and Shelly Longstreth, and his friends, Todd 'Burr' Lissy, Tim Kelly, Dave Hartman, Greg Weber, Herb Ballenger, Doug Smith, and Tom Haynes. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of his wife, Karla. Ed was born on May 11, 1944, in Muscatine, the son of Edwin LeRoy and 'Edee' Pace Longstreth. He was a graduate of Muscatine High School. He was involved in the Muscatine Swimming Program and was part of the 1960 State Champion Team. He married Karla Jo Trimble on January 16, 1965, in Aledo, Illinois. He retired from Bandag and worked for Muscatine Community School District as a school bus driver. CB Friends. He enjoyed camping, bicycling, playing his harmonica and ukulele, spending time with his family and his special pet companion, Millie. He especially loved being a school bus driver and visiting with the kids on the bus. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Karla Jo Longstreth of Muscatine; three children, LeAnn Crose and husband, Dave, of Muscatine, Lance Longstreth and wife, Lynn, of Fruitland, and Lyndsey El Bahi and husband, Said, of Moline, Illinois; four grandchildren, Michael and Dakota Crose, and Taylor and Shelly Longstreth; one great-granddaughter, Ema Crose; his mother, 'Edee' Hayes of Muscatine; and a sister-in-law, Sherry S. Trimble and partner, Lisa Loring, of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin L. Longstreth; his step-father, Edwin Hayes; and one brother, Gary Longstreth.
