Richard Paul Gillam was born on March 12, 1932 in Windom, Minnesota to Paul and June (Seely) Gillam. He graduated from Windom Public School in 1950. From 1951 to 1953 Richard played professional baseball with the Cincinnati Reds Farm System which was a memorable highlight of his life. In 1954 Richard was inducted into the United States Army serving in the Philippines at Clark Field until being honorably discharged in 1956. After serving in the Army Richard graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Richard was a Manufacturers Rep. for Federal Mogul, L.D. Caulk Co. and Waterpik.
On April 9, 1966, Richard was united in marriage to Gwen Duncan. Richard and Gwen owned and operated "Gwen-San Francisco" a garment manufacturing company. Gwen passed away in 1989. In 1994 Richard moved back to Windom where he continued to have a passion for the garment industry.
Richard passed away Thursday evening October 17, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial.
Richard was a member of the San Francisco Fashion Industries. He enjoyed the garment industry, fishing, football, basketball and especially baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gwen; and brother, Charles Gillam.
