GENE ROCHHOLZ MUSCATINE, Iowa - Gene O. Rochholz, 73, of Muscatine, died on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Trinity Hospital - Muscatine. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Don Sondrol will officiate. Burial with Military Rites will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 28, 2013, at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital. Gene was born on December 9, 1939, in Scott County, the son of Louis V. and Nora Schroeder Rochholz. He married June M. Lamp on July 11, 1959, in Davenport. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2010. June was more than a loving wife to Gene, she was his "Sunshine". He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served during the Vietnam War. He worked at Eastern Iowa Grain Inspection as a manager for 50 plus years. He loved his job and co-workers to the point that retirement wasn't even considered. arguing about NASCAR, tinkering in his garage and having a beer with ALL. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Those left to honor his memory include three brothers, Rolland Rochholz of Moline, Illinois, Kenneth Rochholz of Walcott, and Wendell Rochholz of Pleasant Valley; one sister, Trenna Malone of Davenport; many nieces and nephews and lots of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
