William Rainey, 77, of Glenwood, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Glenwood. A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on November 5, 2013 at the Loess Hills Funeral and Cremation Center in Glenwood. Memorials: Directed to the family. William Allen Rainey, son of William Henry and Katherine Lilly (Thomas) Rainey was born on January 14, 1936 in rural Fremont County near Thurman, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1953. On June 20, 1954 he married Frances Louise Bird in Glenwood. Bill enlisted in the United States Army where he was station in Germany from 1954 -1956. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he started working for Allied Chemical and later took over a painting business that he owned and operated for over 15 years knows as "Rainey Painting". He retired due to his health in 1986. Bill and Fran's marriage was blessed with four children, William Randal, Rodney Clyde, Ricky Allen, and Lori Lynn. ng, hunting, watching the greyhound races on his computer, bird watching, gardening, reading books, refurbishing furniture and antiques, playing cards, especially poker with his friends in PJ, and his favorite was evening car rides with Fran looking at the wildlife and birds. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Katherine; step father, Clyde McIntire; sisters ,Maxine Carnes, Betty McLean, and Kay Davis; brothers-in-law, Ken Bird, Pete Dailey, Bob Carnes, and Larry Davis; sister-in-law, Lorraine Dailey. Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Fran; children, William (Beth) Rainey of Albuquerque, N.M., Rodney (Brenda) Rainey, Ricky( Brenda) Rainey, and Lori Harris, all of Glenwood; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; other relatives; and a host of special friends.
