Melvine Wynona Hixson Graham

Ms. Melvine Wynona Hixson Graham, 93, of Burlington peacefully passed at 12:30 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013, at Great River Medical Center - Klein Center, under the care of Great River Hospice. Born October 25, 1920 in Richland, Iowa, she was the daughter of Ralph and Ruth (Singleton) Hixson. She married Doyle Pfeifer, they later divorced. She then married Nelson Graham. Both husbands preceded her in death. Ms. Graham was a self-employed beautician for 35 years. She was one of the first AVON representatives; she raised canaries and loved dogs and cared for many throughout the years. She enjoyed Brazilian embroidery quilts and baking for people. She was of the protestant faith. Survivors include one son, Danny "Dan" Joe (Kay) Pfeifer of Burlington; three grandchildren, Mitch (Brittney) Pfeifer, Derrick (Kelly) Pfeifer and Adam (Christy) Pfeifer all of Burlington; nine great grandchildren, Kaylea Pfeifer, Ashley Pfeifer, Nicholas Pfeifer, Logan Pfeifer, Phoebe Pfeifer, Sydney Pfeifer, Julian Pfeifer, Alyssa Pfeifer, and Aidan Pfeifer; three brothers, Donald Dean (Frances) Hixson of Lake Placid, Florida, John Milton (Betty) Hixson of Columbus Junction, and Leonard Hixson of ...[more]

The Celebration of Life for Melvine will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7th in Lunning Chapel. Rev. David Plooster will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Richland Friends Cemetery, Richland, Iowa. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A memorial has been established. According to her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
