Joseph William Roth died 12:01 AM November 6, 2013, at River Hills in Keokuk. Joe was born November 29th, 1933 in Warsaw, Illinois, to Floyd and Beulah Roth (Shoemaker), and was married to Joyce (Hunter) Roth on September 9th, 1962, in Warsaw, Illinois. Joe was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Keokuk. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 106 and the Grain Millers Union 48. Joe was employed at Hubingers for more than forty years. Joe served four years in the Air Force, and he received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Joe loved to play golf, fish, hunt, and look for golf balls on Country Club Hill. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in all their athletic activities. Joe loved people, always had a smile and never met a stranger. Joe was very generous and showed it in many ways. Survivors include his wife Joyce of fifty-one years, and his sons Jeff (Traci) Roth and Jay (Holly) Roth of Keokuk. (Dick) Lillis, all of Keokuk and a brother, Michael Roth of Keokuk. He is survived by six grandchildren: Trevor, Bailey, Riley, Connor and Spencer Roth and Sean Burke, all of Keokuk. Joe is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Wyverne Hunter. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013, at 1:30 PM at the DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center located at 917 Blondeau Street in Keokuk, Iowa, with Pastor Missy Brown officiating. Burial will be at Keokuk National Cemetery with military rites. The visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2013, from 3 to 8 PM, with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 PM at the DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center located at 917 Blondeau Street. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Methodist Church and the Alzheimer's Association.
