. Together they founded Oakville Feed and Produce in 1951, which is now TriOak Foods. John served as a Director of Farmer and Merchants Bank and Trust for nearly 50 years and held the position of president of the Iowa Feed and Grain Association. He served on the Oakville School Board and on the Oakville City Council. He was a member of the American Legion Post 489 in Oakville for 64 years and was a member of the Wapello Lodge #5 A.F. & A.M. He was a long time member of the Oakville United Methodist Church and served on the church board. John and his wife were world travelers and had visited 48 countries during his lifetime. His family includes his wife, Betty McCulley; three sons, Bob McCulley and wife, Denise, and Mark McCulley and wife, Denise, all of Oakville, and John, McCulley Jr. and wife, Joan, of Mediapolis; a daughter, Polly Bove and husband, Joseph, of Palo Alto, California; seven grandchildren, JR, Nicholas, Kortney, and Tanner McCulley, Erin Ziegler, Tricia Earnest, and David Hart; six great-grandchildren; and six brothers, Dean McCulley and wife, Letha, of Columbus Junction, George McCulley of Muscatine, Glen J. McCulley and wife, Vivian, of Columbus Junction, Elvin McCulley and wife, Beverly, of Tempe, Arizona, Dave McCulley and wife, Beverly, of Wapello, and Welton 'Bill' McCulley and wife, Marilyn, of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Ruth.
