Colleen Barbara Bomkamp
Sun Prairie - Colleen Barbara Bomkamp, age 85 was greeted by the angels in heaven on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on November 24, 1927 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of James and Jule (Sabel) Haney. On May 5, 1956, Colleen was united in marriage to Delbert Joseph Bomkamp. Together they raised five beautiful children. Family was Colleen's biggest value, pride and joy. She was a caring, kind, patient and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Colleen was not only a wonderful mother to her own children but also the whole neighborhood. It was not uncommon to be welcomed into her home. Her home is one that everyone wanted to come to. She was a woman of deep faith and a devout member of Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church. Colleen was proud of the 34 years that she worked at Wisconsin Bell as a telephone operator until her retirement in 1985. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling, creative writing and tap dancing. Colleen will be dearly missed by all who knew her and the lives she touched. ) Bomkamp of Cottage Grove, Linda (Tom) Stangl, Darcy (Dave) Euclide and Darryl Bomkamp all of Sun Prairie, 12 grandchildren; Stacey, Jaime, Chadd, Matt, Rick, Krystle, Ben, Sydni, Brock, Drake, Vance and Aidan and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Delbert in 2006 and her two brothers; James and Duane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 221 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 11:00 am with Father Vincent Brewer presiding. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. The family would like to extend a special thank you to our friend, Eleanor and the girls at Prairie Gardens for the care given to our mother.
