OBITUARY
Magaly (Maggie) Caridad Smith-Eveillard, 49, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, with her family by her side in Broward, Florida.
She was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on September 8, 1964, to the late Raphael Smith and Marie Carmel Dubuche. Maggie and her family immigrated to New York in 1971. She began her undergraduate studies at Baruch College. She moved to Miami in 1988. She received a Bachelor's and MSW degree from Florida International University in 1990 and 1991 respectively. She was a proud AKA sorority member and was nationally recognized by Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Maggie was a beloved member of the community and worked with different not-for-profit organizations providing services to the neediest sectors of our population. A fierce advocate for children's rights and the least fortunate in our community, she touched and helped transform many lives.
Maggie is survived by her daughter, Nabbie Petit-Homme; husband, Jean B. Eveillard; mother Marie Carmel Smith; 5 brothers, Raphael, Clifford, James, Andre, and Pierre; and one grandson.
