te. Dean was home on furlough in October 1941 prior to shipping for the European Theater. After his honorable discharge on August 2, 1945, Dean hastily returned home, quickly seeing his family and then off to see his future bride. They were married at Immanuel Reformed Church in Klemme on December 5, 1945. Dean and Arlene made their home in Garner where they raised their children, Judith, Ken and Glenn. Arlene worked at Winnebago Industries for approximately 22 years until her retirement. During her retirement she enjoyed spending time with Dean, crocheting and knitting items for Christmas gifts. She was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Arlene is survived by her daughter, Judith (Richard) Schroeder of Flint, MI; son, Glenn (Mary) Rasmus of Klemme; grandchildren, John (Kendra) Rasmus and their son, Elliot, Kate Rasmus, Shad Rasmus, Angie (Matt) Greiman and their three children, Grace, Shelby and Jacob, Ryan (Kate) Rasmus and their son, Dylan and Marcus (Kaitlin) Rasmus and their son, Brody; a brother, Marvin (Ramona) Schmidt of Ventura; a sister, Irene Barkema, of Klemme; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; son, Ken; sister-in-law, Lois Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Mervin Barkema.
