On March 2, 1922 Jeanne Elizabeth Lindsay Bartz was born in Germantown, Wis. to Harry and Esther (Mick) Trinwith Lindsay. In Madison Jeanne attended St. Raphael's grade school, Edgewood High School, and graduated from Central High School in 1940. Her interesting array of work included clerking at Kresge's dime store, secretarial and bookkeeping at utility companies, a law office, Arthur Murray and Briggs and Stratton. She was assistant to the manager at the Milwaukee Country Club. While working she enjoyed living in Madison, Janseville, Minneapolis, and Milwaukee. In 1961 Jeanne married Wally Bartz, with whom she shared a great love. They were both avid golfers. She studied at the Milwaukee Area Technical College and graduated with honors from the U.W. -Milwaukee. Jeanne taught Reading and study skills for seventeen years at MATC to students ranging in age from eighteen to eighty-four. Her students included veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Jeanne shared a love of travel with her younger brother Jack. ed her deceased husband Wally, her parents, brothers Bob (Meryl) Lindsay, and Jack Lindsay in their next phase of life. Jeanne's brother-in-law was Frank Bartz; her sister-in-law was Sumiko Bartz. Jeanne is loved and missed by her nephews Don Lindsay, Joseph (Kathleen Reese) Bartz, and by her nieces Debbie Crews (Corky) Ketterling, Miriam Bartz, and Jane Lindsay. Jeanne is a teacher at heart. Whether formally in a classroom or informally with her family, she shared intelligent suggestions, menu ideas, and a wise outlook on life, punctuated by common sense. She spotted humor in situations and seasoned her keen observations with it. Jeanne lived life with a penchant for fun. Family members and friends gathered to honor Jeanne at a service in Milwaukee.
