Gary Lee Hunter

Gary Lee Hunter, 76, of New London, died Monday, December 2, 2013 at his home. Mr. Hunter was born September 12, 1937 in Burlington, the son of Delvin Dwight and Gertrude Geren Hunter. On May 21, 1960 he married Shirley Ann Underwood in New London. He attended New London Schools and was of the Christian faith. He worked for Pepsi Cola in Burlington and retired from Heatilator in Mt. Pleasant. He also owned his own painting business and mowed yards. Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Shirley of New London; two daughters, Sherry (Jerry) Teberg and Melissa Wiggins, both of Mt. Pleasant; one son, Johnny Hunter of Iowa City; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Overlin of Olds; and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-in-law Nevelle Wiggins, and one brother-in-law Ken Overlin. According to his wishes, the body has been cremated and there will be no services. Inurnment will be held in Burge Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established. Elliott Chapel, New London is in charge of arrangements. [more]
