James D. Nikodem MUSCATINE, Iowa -- James Douglas Nikodem, 82, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013, at Carrington Place Care Center. No services have been planned at this time. A memorial fund has been established at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in James' name. James was born on January 5, 1931, in Brookfield, Illinois, the son of George and Marian Marid Nikodem. He was a merchant marine during World War II and worked as a police officer in Illinois and Sawyer County in Wisconsin. James will be missed by his children, Christine Ward and husband, Barry, of Chicago, Illinois, Lawrence Nikodem and wife, Pam, of Wisconsin; two grandchildren; two nieces, Michelle Marsiglio and husband, Scott, and Kristy Nikodem, all of Muscatine; and nephew James Nikodem and wife Lisa, of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Nikodem; and one sister, Lynn Hancock.[more]
