Marilyn R. Post, 89, of Fort Dodge, died Monday, December 23, 2013, at her home. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the First Evangelical Free Church in Fort Dodge with Rev. Scott Hatton officiating. Interment will be in the Reading Township Cemetery near Farnhamville, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. Marilyn is survived by her daughters Sherry (Ron) Lanning of Humboldt, Cindy (Mark) Westrum of Stratford, Lori (Joel) Ness of Gowrie, son Larry Axtell of Alexandria, VA, step-daughter Bari Fazio of Frederick, MD; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helena and John Mahe and her husbands, Leonard Axtell and Russell Post. Marilyn Rose Mahe was born November 14, 1924, south of Farnhamville. She attended country school and graduated from Lohrville High School in 1942. Marilyn attended college at the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls and graduated from Miss Woods Kindergarten and Primary College at Minneapolis, MN. Valley in 1946. The couple farmed south of Farnhamville. Leonard passed away in 1959. Marilyn married Russell Post and they made their home on a farm south of Farnhamville. They lived there until retirement and then moved to Bella Vista, AR in 1980. In 1992, they moved to Fort Dodge. Marilyn was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, Fort Dodge. In Lieu of flowers, the family request memorial be given to KJYL Radio or Almost Home/Humane Society of Fort Dodge.
