Irene Sophie Emma Kuiper (Storbeck), age 93, passed away Dec. 29, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom where she had lived for the past 4 years.
Irene was born June 22, 1920 in the farmhouse on the family farm 10 miles N. of Bingham Lake, Minnesota to Edward and Hilda Storbeck. On October 12, 1940 she was united in marriage to Albert Kuiper. They farmed and lived on the same family farm until their retirement in 1983, when they moved to Jeffers.
Irene was a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Lions Club, and the Hoe and Hope garden club for 50 years. She had a remarkable sense of humor and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards. She loved her family and was always supportive of them.
She is survived by her son, Jim Kuiper (Theresa) Canton, SD; and two daughters Mary Ellen Stolle (Jim) Brainerd, MN; and Carol Nelson (Bruce) Fresno, CA; six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, her sister, Shirley Matzke, Apache Junction, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
