Karen Ann Wadas ORD, Nebraska -- Karen Ann Wadas, 51, of Ord, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Father Mark Maresh will officiate. Burial will take place 2 p.m. MT, Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Goodland Cemetery in Goodland, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to The Family or to the Flag Pole Committee at Auble's Pond. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Karen was born on November 18, 1962, in Goodland, Kansas, the daughter of Gary Daniels and Susan Summer. Growing up, she lived in several states before settling in Ord. Karen was married to the late Robert Bruha and the couple had three daughters. In 1993, she married Richard Wadas. To this union a daughter and son were born. She mostly enjoyed helping people as it showed in her work as a Certified Nurse's Aide. She worked at several nursing homes and as an instructor at Mid Nebraska Individual Servic...[more]

In 2004, her declining health prevented her from continuing her work. Karen spent the rest of her time with her family. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours enjoying Auble's Pond, fishing and watching the kids play around the pond. She had a passion for traveling and swimming. She loved bragging about her grandchildren and always looked forward to their next visit. She is survived by her husband, Richard Wadas of Ord; her mother, Susan (Mrs. Deloy "Swede") Leach of Ord; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Heather and Nathan Fuhrman of Clarks, Nebraska, Amber Bruha of Rapid City, South Dakota; DenaRae and Shane Staack of Grand Island, and Bailee Wadas of Wood River; a son, Ashton Wadas of Ord; five grandchildren Maddox and McKenna Fuhrman, Kaden and Allison Knapp and Brynn Wadas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pat and Kevin Wadas of Seward, Kara (Mrs. Timothy) Hage and Kristine and Troy Helsley all of Muscatine, Iowa; and a brother, Gary "Joe" Daniels of Muscatine, Iowa. She is preceded in by death by her grandparents; her father, Gary Daniels; her step-father, Deloy "Swede" Leach; and a brother-in-law, Timothy Hage.
