Ernest W. "Ernie" See, age 84, of Nevada, Iowa, died Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with Pastors Myron Herzberg and Robert Edwards officiating. Visitation will be held at the church, 701 11th Street, Nevada, on Friday from 5-7 p.m. Condolences may be sent online to www.chetryanmortuary.com. Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Ernie and his family. Born October 15, 1929, in Iowa Center, Iowa, Ernest William See was the son of Benjamin and Myrtle (Kahler) See. He grew up in Story County and was employed by the Nevada School system for 21 years, retiring in 1991. Ernie was married to Pearl Peterson until her passing in 1978. Two sons, Dale and Randy, were born to this union. In 1984, he married Marilynn (Olson) Black. Ernie was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, serving over the years as Governor and Legionnaire. randchildren. He enjoyed watching the children going to and from school and on the practice field across from his home. He dearly loved eating tomatoes and bananas. His favorite meal was breakfast. Most of all, though, Ernie will be remembered for his heart of gold and how he personified God's commandment to love one another. Survivors include his wife, Marilynn; two sons, Dale (Gina) See of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Randy See of Nevada; his step-children, Danny (Debby) Black of Martensdale, Deb Black of Ames, Pam Black and Nettie Mann, both of Iowa City, Teresa Sunderland of Aurora, CO, Michael Black of Denver, CO, and Michelle (Mark) Mapleback of Golden, CO; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his first wife, Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles "Chuck" See; and a sister, Eva See Spencer.
