Laura Chano de Ortiz, 89, matriarch of our family, native of Ecuador, and resident of Davie, Florida, passed away on January 27th, 2014. Laura passed away at home and was surrounded by family and friends. Survivors include her daughters- Ligia Betty Ortiz, Enit Marlis Morales, Angela Ortiz, and Lillian Ortiz; her son- Galo Chano; her grandchildren- Cynthia, Sylvia Patty, Christian, Alex, Dorlis, Joanna, Jessica, Margie, Galito, Maya, Camila, and Emilio; her great-grandchildren- Evan, Andres, Julian, Valentina, Nathaniel, Lucius, Elliott, Gabriel, and Adrianna. Laura was preceded in death by her two husbands, Jose Chano and Victor Ortiz, and her daughter, Laura Chano, as well as her brother, Enrique Chano, on December 25th, and her sister, Antonieta Chano, on January 21st. Viewing will be on Tuesday, January 28th, from 5-9pm with a prayer service at 7pm at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home at 2401 South University Drive, Davie, FL 33324. Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, January 29th, at 1pm at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Plantation, Florida. Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens.
