Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger. Interment is in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m, Monday at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Edna Viola Guinn was born May 11, 1924, in Emmetsburg, the daughter of William and Agnes (Koch) Weir. She attended Emmetsburg Catholic Schools. On June 22, 1947, Edna was united in marriage to Cyrus Guinn at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg and to this union, 10 children were born. Edna raised her children, and she helped Cyrus on the farm where they raised grain and had dairy cows. After her children were raised, she babysat and worked at the Emmetsburg Care Center. Edna was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger. Edna was a wonderful cook, and she enjoyed making meals for all of her family - especially those Sunday dinners. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her friends. More than anything, Edna treasured the time she spent with her family. rch. On January 30, 2014, Edna passed away at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. She was 89. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Rosie (Bob) Carmichael of Lynn Grove, Corky (Sonnie) Schimmel of Platte City, MO, Phillip Guinn of Coin, IA, Francella (Raymond) Fuller of Stonewall, TX, Francine Kaufmann of Sioux City, IA, Cindy Saxton of Sioux Falls, SD, Janet Harris of Grant, MI, Michael (Linda) Guinn of Hartley, IA, Matthew Guinn of Graettinger and Vicky (Mark) Gehrt of Plainfield, IL; a sister, Bridget Mienke of Des Moines, IA; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cyrus; grandson, Vernon Fuller; great-granddaughter, Karen Cagle; daughter-in-law, Terri Guinn; three sons-in-law: Thomas Harris, Ron Kaufmann and Jim DeMoss; six sisters: Josephine Akridge, Patricia Carroll, Mary Weir, Irene Crook, Gertrude Lammers and Dorothy Guinn; and four brothers: William, John, Robert and Thomas Weir.
