Walter A. "Skip" Nash, Jr., 72, of Green Bay, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on January 28, 1942, to the late Walter A. and Betty Nash, Sr., in Rockford, Illinois. Skip was a 1960 graduate of Belvidere High School and served his country in the U. S. Army. He married Judy Patterson in 1979. He proudly served with the Cherry Valley Fire Department for 26 years and retired as Deputy Chief. His sense of adventure and gift of gab moved him to Wisconsin where he owned and operated his restaurant and bar, The Fire Station. Skip enjoyed camping and the many travels taken in the 5th wheel with Packerland Campers. The special friendships made along the way made for wonderful memories. His interests varied from crossword puzzles to finding treasures at garage sales. He will always be remembered for being there for anyone that needed a helping hand. Skip was a member of American Legion Post #518. in; and Ben (Jenny), Belvidere, Illinois; five grandchildren, Justin, Kassidy, Mikie, Garrett and Grant; two sisters, Darlene (Leo) of Wyoming and Walita (Melvin), of Belvidere, Illinois; his Aunt Doris of Rockford, Illinois and several loving nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will take place Monday, February 10, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay, where the memorial service will take place at 7:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staffs at St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice for the special comfort and care given to Skip and his family.
