Marcene Lois Hammel WILTON, Iowa--Marcene Lois Hammel, 80, of Wilton, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, March 10, 2014, at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorial Gathering will be held from 10 until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Memorial donations may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Marcene was born on June 2, 1933, in Independence, Missouri the daughter of Joseph and Dorothy Edwards Wilson. She graduated from Holstein High School, Holstein, Iowa. Marcene married Billy Lee Hammel on October 27, 1956, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2011. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren and enjoyed the time she spent with them. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kim Holland and her partner, Alison Rogalski of Michigan City, Indiana, Debra Hamilton and husband, Martin, of North Platte, Nebraska, and Lisa Gevaert and husband, Patrick, of Wilton; her son, Steven Hammel of Muscatine; nine grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; her ...[more]
