Mary Alice Leahy, daughter of Edward William and Alice Catherine Leahy, was born on October 27, 1940 in Omaha, Nebraska. She entered into rest on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Hospice With Heart facility in Glenwood, Iowa, at the age of 73 years. Mary grew up on the family farm near Imogene with six siblings. She enjoyed being outside near the livestock and especially enjoyed her cats. She moved into the Lowell House at Nishna Productions in 1988. Mary liked the many activities and working at the workshop. Over the years, she acquired many friends. Due to failing health, Mary moved to Hospice With Heart in Glenwood on August 1, 2013. Preceding Mary in death were her parents; brother, Bob Leahy; and brother-in-law, Jim Maher. Survivors include her siblings, Thomas Leahy of Imogene, IA, Frank Leahy and wife Shirley of Malvern, IA, Ann Maher of Omaha, NE, Rev. William P. Leahy, S.J. of Boston, MA; Ellen Leahy and husband Mike Brookover of Omaha, NE; and sister-in-law Colleen Leahy of Omaha, NE; 8 great nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. in Imogene. Celebrant was Rev. William P. Leahy, S. J. Concelebrants were Rev. Thomas Kunnel and Rev. Vern Smith. Kathleen Sgourakis and Kelly Meyers were the readers. Organist was Mary Beth Gowing. Cantors were Sue Hanna and Tommy Hanna. Altar servers were Blake Doyle and Britney Doyle. Gift bearers were Shannon Dorton, Sarah Maher, Jennifer Howard and Julie Lingbloom. Caring for the flowers was Kathleen Sgourakis. Ushers were Bernie Hughes and John Martin. Attending the memory register was Debbie Slater. Bell toller was George McGargill. Casket bearers were Pat Maher, John Leahy, Gus Sgourakis, Pete Zoucha, Chris Lingbloom and Don Howard. Interment was in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Imogene.
