Corporation in 1949, as an engineer for hydroelectric power plants. He was also employed part time by Norman R. Gibson, a consulting engineer for the testing of hydraulic turbines throughout the United States and Canada. Fred joined Stanley Engineering Company in Muscatine in 1963, and performed a variety of engineering assignments in the US and overseas and in management in Muscatine. He retired from Stanley Consultants as Senior Vice-President and Director in 1982. Fred was a life fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Consulting Engineers Council. He served as a MIT Educational Counselor and as a member of the University of Iowa Advisory Boards for the College of Engineering and the Center of Business and Management. He was president of the Buffalo, New York, Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Buffalo section of the ASCE. Fred was design engineer and later President of Hickory Hill Swimming Club of Orchard Park, New York. He was a volunteer worker for the Muscatine United Way and the Muscatine Chapter of SCORE. He was a member of Muscatine's Catholic Community. During retirement, Betty and Fred spent 17 years living half-time in Muscatine and in Sun City Center, Florida. In Sun City Center, they were members of The Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Fred was a member of the Security Patrol, a volunteer worker with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and a member of the SSC Golf and Raquette Club. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Elizabeth 'Betty' Reusswig of The Villages, Florida; his children, Michael Reusswig and wife, Cynthia, of The Villages, Florida, Patricia Nyweide and husband, John, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, David Reusswig and wife, Sara, of Muscatine, Iowa, and Catherine Reusswig of Denver, Colorado; 10 grandchildren, Amy Ortiz and husband, Scott, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Katy Ward and husband, Scott, of Parker, Colorado, J. Kendrick Reusswig of Newton, Iowa, Meg Jarman and husband, Alan, of Cleveland, Tennessee, Christine Nyweide of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Matthew Reusswig of Reston, Virginia, Philip Reusswig of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Emily Reusswig of Chicago, Illinois, and Maggie Long and Alissa Long, both of Denver, Colorado; and seven great-grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his parents.
